Research Interests
Prof Bengoechea is keen to PhD applications from candidates with a basic or clinical background.
We are particularly interested in dissecting the role of the type VI secretion system in Klebsiella pneumoniae infection biology including the interaction with the gut microbiome.
Other projects available refer to establishing the virrulence of different Klebsiella species including strains from sub Saharan Africa.
Previous research experience is desirable although not essential.
